the basics


Congratulations - you've set a date! Let your loved ones know the date and destination of the wedding. 


Announces who is hosting the occasion, who is saying " I do" and includes the ceremony details. 

reception card

If not on the invitation, detail where the reception is, address, time and expectations (dinner, drinks, dancing, attire, etc.)

response card (rsvp)

A card that asks the recipient to respond to a wedding invitation as to whether or not they will attend. 

at the wedding

Table cards

Directs guests to their appointed tables and typically includes the guest's name and corresponding table number.  

Place cards

When arriving to a table, small cards at each place setting denote the guest's seat. 

escort cards

Rarely used today, escort cards told a gentleman which lady he was to escort into the reception; an envelope with the gentleman's name on it held a card with the lady's name.
